Vigna Bottin are the second growers to plant sangiovese in the McLaren Vale region. It is one of northern Italy’s most noble varieties and hails from central Italy, most famously Chianti, Tuscany’s iconic wine. Led by flavours of sour cherry, red currants and wild, exotic forest fruits. An exciting wine showing meaty herbs, ironstone and inky dark fruits through mid-palate.
“A warm climate expression, bringing to mind the forceful, chocolatey wines of the Maremma, in coastal Tuscany. This was finished in French wood for 14 months, the aspirations of the approach embedded in a finely grooomed piste of oak-melded tannins, ripe cherry to plummy scents and a gentle waft of herb, root spice and acidity across the back end. A very smart, potent and highly modern Sangiovese.” 2015 – 95 Points – James Halliday, Wine Companion
“Just in case you’re needing an Italian red rather than white for dinner, the Vigna Bottin 2011 Sangiovese will do the right thing beside a dinner of slow braised ragu and pasta.” – Tony Love, The Advertiser, 2011
